How can I maintain yoga poses (asanas) for a longer period of time?

I’m quite flexible, but it seems I can’t hold certain poses for a substantial length of time – like, say, Warrior 2 … Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated. THANKS!

with warriors particularly it is down to strength in the legs, and grounding. often people who are flexible are lacking in strength, and vice versa.

best thing to do would be to try and build up gradually, hold a little longer each time (measure the length of time by the number of breaths). it will come with practice.

also be aware on the contact between your feet and the floor, whilst you are in postures, imagine your feet being firmly rooted to the floor, and explore that connection.

My yoga instructor told us that if certain poses are difficult, don’t push yourself.

Each pose aggravates or calms different energies. When one energy is too aggravated, poses that intensify it will not feel good while poses that calm it will. We each have different inherent energy levels that change with the seasons.

I forgot the name she called the energies by (Doshas maybe) I was going to research all of this. Thanks for the reminder :)
